Saudi Arabia plans big investment in Morocco

RABAT, May 29 -- Saudi Arabia's Prince Alwaleed bin Talal is planning "huge investments" in Morocco, including in tourism, Moroccan newspapers reported on Tuesday.

Alwaleed met Morocco's king Mohammed on Monday in Fes, the North African country's religious and culture centre, to brief him on his investment projects.

"The Kingdom Holding plans huge investments in Morocco, especially in tourism," the Arabic-lanaguage daily al Sahara al Maghribia quoted Alwaleed as saying. He is the holding's chairman.

The French-language Le Matin newspaper carried a similar report. Alwaleed could not be reached immediately for comment.

Alwaleed's trip to Morocco followed Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah's visit to the North African kingdom last week when he and King Mohamed vowed to expand bilateral cooperation, including more Saudi investment.

Morocco is trying to attract more foreign investment to spur growth and create jobs. - IOL
